American Flyer Track Locks/Clips
Posted by skippygp123 on Monday, February 2, 2015 9:07 AM

I have seen several styles of American Flyer Track Locks/Clips on ebay.  I know there are the #693 (also numbered 26693).

There are also some locks/clips that are shaped just like those numbered 693/26693, but appear to be made of wire, not the 1/8" bent steel.

Does anyone know anything about these other clips/locks?  Are they also for American Flyer track?  Do you know the American Flyer catalog number for them?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Hi, I do not know if this will help you but this is what is in me book. These are for S-guage American flyer track.

#693 track lock   1948-1956 These are the thicker U shaped ones

#26693 Track lock  1957-60  These are the thinner bent wire ones U shaped

You push the lock into the side of the ties to hold the two tracks together.

There was also a version for the Pikemaster track.    #26343   1961-64

Way back when AF recommended that you splay the pins on AF track.  Bend them slightly to the outside.  I think if you do this you will eliminate the need for clips and have a much better electrical connection.  I do this with my O gauge track and it works very well.
