Formatting posts

How does one format posts on this site? When ever I make a post, all of the formatting, extra spaces, line breaks, new paragraphs, etc disappear.

The formatting should not change when you submit a post. What browser are you using? IE? Firefox (what I use)? My IE version 7 does not display this website properly.

Do you see the toolbar at the top of the reply box (Bold, Italic, Insert hyperlink, etc.)? You need Javascript working to get the reply box to open properly and display all the tools and to keep the post formatted. If I answer a post without Javascript engaged,  the reply box toolbar does not appear, and the formatting of my post will disappear (ie. paragraphs, indents, etc.). Check for the latest version of Java to be installed and running in your browser.

I use Firefox 22.0 This version allows me to manually disable Javascript, which speeds up web browsing considerably, but I must remember to re-enable it to respond to forums.

Now I am on firefox.

The tool bar is back.
So I guess there is a problem with Internet Explorer 11. Smile

You're welcome, cwburfle,

Some websites will not work properly with Firefox, and you may have to revert back to IE, but that is very rare.

By the way, I ran a JavaScript test, and confirmed that my Internet Explorer has it enabled. I do not have Java installed on this device. None of the software I run requires it.

I had same issue IE 11 will not display the option header and java is loaded and enabled.

I had to load google chrome and now it works with all options as to font size smileys and so on.

I assume it saves the settings you select for font size and so on?

Thank you for the confirmation.
As I posted earlier Java and Javascript are two different pieces of software.
If anybody cares, here is the Wikipedia article on Javascript:

For those using IE11, make sure the site is in Compatibility View. It fixes the formatting problem.

1. On the upper right, click the "Page" button on the upper toolbar.

2. Select "Compatibility View" on the drop down menu.

3. Click "Add" to add the site.

4. Close out the menu. You may need to refresh the page.

Northwest: I just added this site to my compatibility view list, and now I have the formatting tool bar.

Thanks!

For some reason or other, I've had to add this site back to the compatibility list several times.  This usually is needed after the computer updates.
