S Gaugers also are known to use the term '3/16" Scale'. This is the same as 1/64, and was popularized by American Flyer in the 1930's when they started manufacturing 3/16" scale trains to run on the popular O gauge 3-rail track. After WWII, they brought the track into proportion with the trains, made modifications, and their 3/16" scale trains now ran on 2 rail S gauge track.
