What did you find at York?

Although I didn't find what was on my list I still managed to come home with some new toys.
I picked up 9 of the new lionel auto carriers and some CSX heritage engines. The Big Boy demo was rather impressive with very nice sound and smoke. I think when they said buy a case of smoke fluid they weren't kidding.
So what did you find?

At the pre York show my son and I found a restored Wide gauge Flyer "piper" steam loco and at the show a Ives #116 station circa 1914 to 1923. Both for really cheap prices! I picked up a Flyer by Lionel U33 in Santa Fe colors and a set of early American Models full length passenger cars to repaint in NYC colors.  Had a great time and visited every hall at York and every venue for the pre York train shows. Of course I live only 29 miles away so it is easy for me to attend.

Many non Yorkies think you can find everything there. As we know that's not the case. If you find a few things to buy, then you had a successful hunt.

So true. I usually don't find those items I'm actively searching for but I do seem to find a few nice pieces and sometimes at a decent price. One of the most interesting things is seeing items that are not usually in a LHS or at the smaller train meets. Last year I was able to pick up a k-line boxcar that was on my "if I see it list" and I hadn't seen it in 5 years. Those are the best finds for me

I have to agree that to find a item or two  you are looking for at York is rewarding.  I have notice however that over the last year I have been able to located items in great condition and a cheaper price than at the York meet.  An example was a Flyer Green Great Norther refer with opening door for $40 on EBAY and the same item at York was from $140 to $200. You have to shop around to find an item at a price you are willing to pay.

I walked the aisle of York and found only one US Steel locomotive in really poor condition.  What has happened to all of the US Steel Lionel ore cars, work cabooses, search light cars, welding cars, slag cars, hot metal cars and the 0-6-0 Dockside Switcher that were tremendously popular?  You can still find the girder cars.

I did find another TTUX Southern Pacific Car for a good price.

I found my long time friend BUCKEYE RIVETER along with a bunch of the GUYZ from the Forum (see Coffee Pot with Pic of the GUYZ).  Got caught up in the friendly banter between friends.  As far as trains bought, a BIG ZERO spent on trains.  Only a buck and a half for a coffee.  Maybe in the Spring along with some Ice Cream in the parking lot from JOHN will I see something to buy?  Stay tuned....

My goods. I found some of what I wanted and some that I was not looking for. Had a great time at was definitely a buyers market on Friday and Saturday.

I believe I had twice the trip that Laz had. Not only did I get to catch up with some of the guyz but I did manage to score some nice things. Half the fun of our 3+ hour trip is seeing everyone you don't see but every 6 months or so. If you buy something, that's a plus.

I saw more Flyer stuff, or so it seems, than in past shows. I picked up a signal tower, handcar and a 300 watt transformer ( 19B).

Great way to spend 3 days.

Hello there

I got to meet Buckeye & Chief for the first time. Had a great time with all the guys. Not lookin forward ti Snohio this year.

At the show I didn't get much. Bought a Lionel HO Autoloader minus the vehicles and a Gilbert HO Reefer in a hard to find roof color. It has incorrect trucks and I stole it for $5.00.

Spent a total of $17.00 on trains. Dropped $20.00 on lunch.
