#397 Coal Loader
Posted by 41Woodie on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 11:55 AM

Having a bit of a problem with my new (to me) 397 loader.  It appears to run properly and the mechanism that shakes the "ladder" functions fine.  The problem is that the belt appears to jam or stop frequently.  I can turn it a bit manually and it takes off again but soon the belt stops again.  Any thoughts??

If your coal particles are too small, they can get under the mechanism and cause the problem you describe.

Try lubricating the underside of the belt with cornstarch. Also, make sure that when the belt stops you turn off the unit. The motor in the 397 is powerful enough to tear the belt in two.
