Shiny Black Tenders and Shiny Red Buttons!
Posted by M. Mitchell Marmel on Saturday, June 21, 2014 12:17 PM

Quick happy snap of some WIPs on my workbench!

The former Lionel Southern RR chuff-chuff tender (soon to have Razorback emblems applied, and maybe a trolley pole if I'm REALLY feeling ornery) and the former Lionel Scout tender (soon to have Marx decals applied just to confuse the purists) are resplendent in Valspar Paint and Primer Satin Black spray (which I can heartily recommend as a nice respray color for steam equipment) for future service behind my Marx 666 locos (which will get a similar respray in future).  The shiny, red, candylike buttons are recent eBay finds after a quick cleanup with some 409 and a +1 Brush of Scrubbing.  The Plasticville station is being fitted with a former steam tender whistle for sound effects purposes (which is what one of the buttons will be used for, along with a Radio Shack battery holder underneath)...

So, that's what I'm up to these days!

3000 volt DC powered steam loco eh?  Geeked  Maybe a replacement for the diesel?  Smile, Wink & Grin

I use a scout type steel tender with Lionel Lines plates behind a Marx Commodore Vanderbilt all the time.  The catch is that the commy is a clockwork model wearing Lionel C.V. plates!  Tongue Tied  Shocking!
