Menards latest all-wood O gauge structure
Posted by Carl Swanson on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 3:22 PM

On our Facebook page we've posted a "teaser" photo of the latest new product received in our office -- it's a pre-production sample of the newest ready built and factory-detailed all-wood structure from regional home improvement chain Menards. Last fall's Menards structure was the O gauge Camaraderie Bar & Grill. Any guesses on what type of structure is in today's box from Menards?

I'm hoping it's a barn.

Maybe a jail, need someplace to put the drunk drivers coming out of the bar. Smile, Wink & Grin

Welp - the Camaraderie Bar & Grill, shown below:

Is a dead ringer for the long standing Bar Mills kit - Saulena's Tavern. This is one I built:

Bar Mills makes so many great wood kits, there is plenty of "reference material."

These Menards buildings by Woodland Scenics are really nice models and beautiful to look at. But at over $100 bucks each and even at end of season close out pricing they are a bit too pricey for me to stock up on.

Neither the bar or their new wooden structure are by Woodland Scenics, they just made the plastic structures.

Well I guess that rules out the barn as the one I was hoping for was done by Woodland Scenics in other scales....  Looking forward to seeing what the new structure is.  Last years Camaraderie Bar was a great value for the money.

The folks at Menards say July would be good. Of course, check the September issue of CTT (on sale August 5th) for more information.

The Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa?  A road house?  Carvel?  House of ill fame?  The Chrysler building?  A Woolworth's?  I'd love a Woolworth's.
