Grey #26 Bumpers?
Posted by M. Mitchell Marmel on Saturday, April 12, 2014 5:27 AM

Did Lionel make these?  Or are they a rather ambitious respray?  I don't see any hints of the customary red paint under the grey, which would imply that, if they were resprayed, someone went to the trouble of stripping the bumpers down to bare metal sometime in the past...

Yes Lionel made both red and grey bumpers in fact the grey according to my 2013 price book is about 3 times the value at $18 for good condition to $60 for excellant condition I believe that is for 2

I don't know why the price would be for two pieces. Postwar end bumpers were sold individually. It was in the Modern era that Lionel started packaging them in pairs.
