I think it actually worked!!!  This is a picture of an AF Hiawatha wind up that was part of my old Lionel trains from the 1950's that my cousin returned to me after 48 years.

Morning Dave,

Unfortunately the only other thing related to the Hiawatha are 2 rail track.  I have 4 straight, & 19 curve.  I also don't have a key for the windup, so I don't even know if it works or not.  My collecting is mainly Lionel Postwar, of which I had a layout 8' x 16' back in the mid '50s.  All of my trains were given to a cousin, when I hit teenage years, and then I went into the Navyin mid 60's.  The bulk of what was mine, was just returned to me in the past few weeks.  He threw in everything that he had, and the Hiawatha was just one of them.

Hope you are feeling better, as I read a lot of the posts in the Forum, and have learned quite a bit, since getting back into the hobby.

I have the clockwork Hiawatha with the articulated passenger cars. It's a nice set. you can see a picture of it on the 4th shelf right behind the die cast A.F hiawatha.

being the square back version, it was probably paired with the 3192 Type XX tender and pulled a small, 4-wheel, 1100 series freight set.

the key for this locomotive has an extra long shaft similar to the key for the Flyer 9900 Zephyr, but most clockwork motors can be tested by winding the drive wheels in reverse.
