Just started used to have a setup with my old lionel #2046 and freight cars. 60 years ok! Need ideas on layouts that I can expand on with my 2 mth engines with a DCS system.

I get many of my ideas from the pages of CTT magazine that features a new layout every month. You'll want to have at least two uninterupted tracks so you can run both trains at the same time. You should also have a couple sidings where you can park other trains.

I would order up a book or two  from our host who has published numerous layout publications.

There is a brand new book out now that deals with layout plans built with Lionel's Fastrack. This is a good track system because it stays together well and is compatible with post war lionel trains like yours. It is called something like "Track plans for Fastrack". I'm sorry I cannot recall the exact name.

Thanks,

George

Too late.  He's already into MTH.

Unfortunately he has two threads going.  Here's what he posted on the other one:

"Just recently bought some MTH trains Union Pacific diesel and a big boy steam loco, Z4000 transformer and the DCS system and some realtrax, would like to start out with something reasonable add as I can afford. Thanks"
