Razorback Traction Co: An LW Transformer Transformation...
Posted by M. Mitchell Marmel on Saturday, February 15, 2014 12:37 PM

As delivered this morning (photo from original eBay listing):

After a new power cord and lightbulb (and a borrowed handle from my inop LW), plus a good scrubbing of the bakelite case while I had it off:

Runs the Crocodile just fine, and the reverse and whistle buttons are fully functional!  All in all, a good morning's work!

Nice job M.M.M. The LW is my favorite industrial design, even over the ZW. First sold in 1955 it seems a cross between Art Deco (1930's) and 1950's austere industrial. Of course, the lighted dial is the cat's meow! Uh... no that is from the 20's. Ah! The lighted dial "rocks!"

Thankee!  The LW is my "go-to" transformer for daily utilty/train show use, as it's durable, powerful and good looking...  ^.^

Oh!  And the power cord is from a burned-out Lionel CW-80.  How's THAT for recycling?  ^.^
