A question for you repair pro's-----I've got a pre war Lionel 10 Standard Gauge engine that I re wheeled with some Boswer wheels---Here's the rub---the wheels on the 10 were factory, and of course they had swelled up three times their normal size---I pulled all wheels but the non geared wheels each had a thin factory washer between the wheel and the bearing. I put these washers back on when I mounted the new wheels, everything works great BUT there needs to be a bit more space between the wheel and the rail. It wants to climb the rail a little on the curves. If the washers were out, I could press the wheel on a little more and I think all would be fine.-----If I pull the wheels and re mount them will they stay tight? Should I use loctite? I've never had real good luck re mounting used wheels.---I've got more wheels in stock but hate to throw these away. Any ideas? I'm thinking the Boswer wheel is thicker so it doesn't need the washers?
a couple of the driver's on my 671 were loose, and I put a drop of super glue on them. Stays tight, and I had to pull one to replace a gear, and it came off no problem. Reglued and the whhels have been fine for years now.
