Pennsy Troop Train Ad

I found this original ad from a magazine in an antique store for a couple of bucks and thought it would be neat to share. Jon

Quite often for my lunch break I walk across the street to the public library and thumb through its collection of olf Time and Life magazines dating back to the late thirties.

I really enjoy the old railroad ads like this as well as the Lionel and Flyer ads from the fifties. Into the early sixties, toy trains appeared in guest appearances for other products. Many of these are featured in the ongoing series in the Train Collectors' Quarterly magazine.

Wow, thanks for sharing these. Lou, I do the same thing at the main Chicago Public Library. They have a wealth of old ads (not to mention old train books) to thumb through during lunchtime - especially when the weather is bad. One of our professors here at DePaul just finished the second volume of a book series that looks at towns and areas across the country after they lost rail service - titled something like 'when the train left town' - it's interesting to see the tremendous volume of traffic during the war.
