Source for Hogwart's Traction Tires
Posted by LIRR1926 on Monday, August 26, 2013 1:02 PM

I recently bought a used Hogwart's set from ebay at a good price, found several of the small plastic detail broken but was able to order them from Lionel. They list the traction tires as unavailable, part no. 7110-1020-206. Any suggestions on a source for these?

thanks

Some hobby shops keep a box of traction tires on hand for different models. You may try matching something up.

If you simply need to replace the traction tires as opposed to the entire wheel assemblies, take a look at the attached link. I have never used this material but have used silicone sealant as a tire replacement, with excellent results.

I have the same issue with the same locomotive, very poor packing for shipping. Who did you contact for the detail parts? I need an connecting rod as well. The 5972 locomotive runs great and everything operates, I just need some small detail parts.

I got the detail parts from Lionel, they have exploded diagrams of many of their products on line through customer service. Just searched the site for Hogwart's and got a multiple page list. Everything seems to be available except the tires. Prices not bad, e.g. $.80 ea for the buffers, 1.40 for the brake stand, shipping was $9.00 and it arrived in a couple of days. Just not pleased that an obvious wear item like traction tires is not available.

Found a source for the traction tires--1,50 ea plus shipping.

Lionel uses that same engine, just different paint schemes, for about 10 to twelve different road names. You may be able to find the tires under one of the other roads.
