I believe MTH makes an Aerotrain set. I have admired the funky Aerotrain ever since saw one of the two in the St. Louis train musuem. Anybody got one?

I have had one for over a year. I have never run it in conventional, but have run the daylights out of it in command. Really good diesel sounds and an outstanding horn. The cars have quite a bit of drag. They do not have fast angle wheels or needle bearings. I can run the set with its orginal two cars easily on Super O curves. I do not recall the limit it would pull on Super O. As I added cars it got more difficult. I can run the set with three additional cars on 072 tubular track with no problem.

A friend brought his set, with the add-on cars, to run on my Christmas layout in 2003 (since he doesn't have a layout). We ran it on a 14'x14' oval with O42 tubular track and it ran fine. We tried on O27 curves but the first curve was thru a Lionel switch and it wouldn't clear the housing so we didn't go further than that. But my hunch is that it could have handled O27 tubular too but that's only a hunch.

The train was fun to watch and LISTEN to!!! We used doplar and it was the best of the 5 PS2 engines that I used doplar on by far. Varying speeds resulted in nice engine sound changes too. However, the friend wanted to run it FAST, so we ran it about as fast as it could run and it never derailed.

I'm not a person to just buy-and-buy trains but I am giving serious thought to getting this set - that's how much I enjoyed running it.
