A picture of my latest finished project.  I cut down the carcass of a K-Line boxcar to create a gondola cover.  No particular prototype, more like something the RR would throw together in it's own shop.

Yesterday at Allaire State Park, Farmingdale, NJ.

1904 Passenger Car.

My daughter (due in July) had a great time on the ride. Tickets are $4.00 each. Ticket sales and membership are the only money they get to keep this in operation. A diesel pulled the small train, in 3 - 5 years they will have a refurbished steamer running.

Nice engine Bigdogjeff. Can't wait to see the matching cars. Is that Mega Steam smoke fluid you are using. I picked up two bottle at York, and I have to say I like the way the smoke isn't so thick and lingering when it comes out of the stack. Anyway nice engine.

Kevink22 that's I love the blue comet and yes it's mega smoke it's the only smoke I use is JTs mega smoke love the fact they have loads of smells and the way it smokes is always cool to watch and now the came out with a product that cleans the smoke unit out so it doesn't stink and it acts as a lubricant.

Frame work finally finished. Fine tuning and sheeting go on tomorrow hopefully.

Section at bar end is 63 inches from wall to the bar side and 62 inches from back wall to small section. The small sections are 18 and 1/2 inch by 87 inches. The big section is 5 foot by 10 foot. I plan to build a trestle bridge between the two small sections and tie the two platforms together.

RJ - Great start! I wish I had that much room.

Just wondering, is there any horizontal movement on those 18" wide areas? Great idea with the trestle bridge. Is this something you're making or buying?

RJ - Couple notes

1. you need some 'spreaders' between your 'legs' about 6 - 12 inches off the floor.

2. I would also recommend some 'angle bracing' from at the top to add some rigidity to the legs.

3. If there is 3 inches behind the radiator supply pipes you could make use of that space for a 'tunnel' - you could also turn the pipes into 'smoke stacks' for some nice industry.

Over all though it looks AWESOME!

Ray - Actually the two long pieces and the 5'x10' piece hardly wiggle. The piece at the bar shakes a bit. I'm thinking I might need to screw it to the wall. Also the two long pieces are screwed to the larger pieces the butt up to. I plan to build the trestle bridge myself. Hope it comes out looking like a bridge and not like a splinter pile!

lion88roar - I figured I would wait till I put in some of the wires before adding to the legs. As long as it doesn't shake real bad I don't see a need to hurry with em. I wanted the train to run behind the pipes but there is just not enough room and I thought moving the pipes would just make for more work. Not sure I wanted the boards over the registers. I do like the stack idea!

Kev - Thanks! I was going to ask how you did your legs on your platforms.

fifedog - Me and the wife are big Buffet,pirate, Caribbean nuts. We have a town (Caseville,Mi) near by that throws a festival every year called cheeseburger fest. Two weeks of fun and a super fun parade.
