Santa Fe 8913 operation
Posted by quizshow904 on Sunday, March 24, 2013 6:29 PM

I can't get a bell or whistle sound on my old Santa Fe 8913. I am operating TMCC. I found a switch on the under side of the engine but that seems to make it run in reverse all the time. I have both outside tracks hooked up to common and the center track in hot.

try reversing your wires on the transformer just to see as some transformers are backwards from others.

The 8913 Santa Fe Alco did not come with a horn or any other sounds. There was a separate sale matching dummy "A" unit with a horn, Off hand, I do not recall the number of the dummy,

I put a MTH railsounds locomotive on the track and when I plugged everything in I got a spark. I had hooked up all the power supplies with a common including the American Flyer 275 watt transformer. And now the tmcc base doesn't have any green or red lights. I have taken it out of the equation and now just have a 135 watt brick hooked up to the Powermaster unit and I can run any of the trains on it. Could I have damaged the command base??
