I know this may not be the best place to ask this but it's the only place I know. Does anyone have any idea of some where else to sell and buy train items besides eBay. They are starting to take more and more of your money with every purchase. Any help would be great.

One can always go to local train shows and sell there. However, I find that the prices on some items do better on ebay, than at local shows, so even with the increasing fees, it is worth my time to sell some items on ebay.
I guess one has to figure out the best place to market trains in the area where one lives. There may not be a lot of local shows in every area, so that might not be a viable alternative. Ebay also reaches a larger audience than a local show and I have shipped items abroad and purchased unusual items from other countires.

I guess one other comment is that everyone knows of ebay, but are you reaching the same audience with another site? I typically have noted that some of these other sites do not attain the same prices that one attains with ebay. As a buyer I like to purchase from these other imitators as I can get something for a deal on these sites.
Therefore, is there an advantage to using another site with lower fees if you are selling for a lower price?
He said buying and selling I agree with you and was mainly seing the buying benifit . Your point and mine is if hes doing so well on his own site why does he sell on ebay too.

They don't gouge on the amount they take from your profits and the higher the selling price the less they take. eBay takes the same across the board to include part of your shipping. Just some information in case some here do not know. eBay gets apercentage of the selling price, shipping cost, listing fees, and last but not least they own Paypal too so they are making money all the way around. That is a whole lot of money when you add it up and why do they take a portion of your shipping costs? I don't remember them packing or mailing my packages for me.

I agree. I stopped selling on ebay. The fees are one thing, but the flakes are another. I couldn't take the stress caused by folks trying to get a free ride. That's a shame because many of my other buyers were great to deal with, but the few bad ones took the fun out of it for me.
