Does anyone know what year Lionel began using Fast Angle wheels?

It was in 1970, the first year of MPC production. It was also the first year most of the cabooses on train sets had the same road name as the motive power. Never could figure out postwar Lionel used Lionel Lines on most the of cabooses.

One of the key people that worked one the production side of Lionel during the early days of the MPC era was Richard Branstner an engineer who knew and worked with George Toteff, who founded the original Model Products Corporation in 1962.
He developed the tapered wheels and needlepoint bearings that were introduced with the first MPC generated line in 1970. They also greatly improved the graphics on all rolling stock.
The Lionel Toy Corporation closed it's development office in 1964, and all train products that they offered in the ensuing years were reissues of existing products, some with minimal to no graphics.
