Does anyone have a remake of the generator car? I think it was reissued in '96. Was wondering how it compares to the original and which is better. I noticed new ones on ebay are about $50, whereas used postwar versions are almost twice that. Any opinions would be appreciated.
Thanks

There are 2 versions of the modern reproduction from that era. There are the 19825 and the 19831. I believe the 19831 is labeled as 3530, so looks more like the postwar one. (the 19825 has that number printed on the car near the roof line instead of 3530).
I think they are OK. Unless you specifically wanted a postwar one, either should suit you well. (The mechanism is relatively mature and has been pretty trouble free on these cars as far as I can tell.) This is one of the few accessories with a vibrotor that I like the way it works (probably because the piece that sits on the vibrotor is symmetrical and balanced evenly over the surface with the "fingers", unlike something like the radar screen from a radar tower, which suffers from the non-symmetric nature of the screen as it sits on the "fingers")

I have all three. The remakes are nice items, and are fine if you are not looking to collect an original.
One of the remakes has plastic trucks, the other has die-cast. Can't remember which is which.
