On modern Lionel starter set 4-4-2 engines with a "can" style motor,,, there is the drive motor, then one sprocket with 2 sets of gears on it in large diameter and small diameter, then another sprocket that goes between the drive wheels. I need the part numbers for both sprockets and the piece that holds the 1st sprocket in place. I am back to building one locomotive from 2 or 3 modern can motor 4-4-2 steam engines. I still have not decided whether I will build an articulate 4-4-4-2 or a 4-8-2 or maybe a Frankenstein steam engine.

I found the parts at ttender.com. The lionel part numbers system is a little confusing with and without dashes or the "600" at the front of a number. Anyone have any pointers?

I have two cheap Marx engines I will take apart and possibly use gears off of them. Now I have to decide which way I will build this loco with the 42" curves I have on parts of the layout. I also have a few curves on the layout that are close to the wall. I'm thinking of a 4-4-4-2 articulated that is not really based scale wise on any real locomotive.
