My nephew ran my Lionel Christmas train into the wall years ago and completely broke the tender truck in half. I took one off another box car that had pickups just to get it up and running again, but I’ve never been able to find a replacement. I bought another car off of eBay thinking I could use the truck, but it was completely different.
It been a lot of years now and the last time I tried from Lionel, I was told I could only buy from a dealer and the dealer said they weren’t available. I just saw some trucks for sale, but I have no idea of which one to buy. Can someone steer me in the right direction?

Thanks I'll do that. It is a rivet and i had to drill the other out. I was going to use a screw to replace it, but I'm wondering if I should try to make it original with another rivet,
If you didn't make the hole any bigger I would.

Thanks. The hole in the floor is the same and i used a bolt in the tender when I swapped it I haven't had any problems with it and was going to do the same with the box car, but was having second thoughts about trying to keep it original.

That bunk car is number 6-29608 from 2005. Order the trucks using the car number to be sure.

I found one with the exact same number for $10 and was going to order 2 as a spare, but they wanted $17 shipping, so I'm still looking
I sent Jeff at Train Tender an email and waiting to see if he has one. I just don’t like placing orders over the phone and avoid it at all costs, but I may have no choice because it’s been about 7years since this car has been on the tracks.
I did end up with a lot more cars that I bought of off eBay thinking I could swap trucks.
So I received my new truck from www.ttender.com and installed it. I just want to say that it was weird to send a check after so many years of buying online with credit cards, but he was the best price and the quickest shipping. I highly recommend him.
Anyway, I could not remember exactly how the contacts went in so I put them in the same as the other, but I just realized that by doing that I have connections to both outside tracks. I’m using MTH Realtrax and only one outside rail is hot besides the center. I notice the lights flicker and I wounder if I should connect up the other rail.
I think you will find, if you check with a meter(or a bulb), there is power to both outside rails while running trains.

I had to think about what you said for a moment, but then it just dawned on me that the wheels aren’t isolated so I guess it doesn’t matter.
I knew that the rails on MTH are separate unless both are wired up and I got confused because the wheels are isolated on my N-scale trains
