Hello Guys,
I was recently acquired a brand new in the box 6-8215 Nickel Plate Road Berkshire from 1982. The locomotive does not have a mark on it, but the mighty sound of steam in the tender sound a little sick. I took it out of the box and put it on the layout, and sparks flew. Lionel, in their infinite wisdom mounted the circuit board to the all metal tender with foam. Well I think everyone can guess where I am going. After thirty years in the box, the foam disintegrated, the board touched the tender frame and the locomotive now farts along down the track and the whistle sounds like a lonely dog howling at the moon. So my question is, does anyone know of a good replacement sound system that I can put in the locomotive?
Perhaps the Williams by Bachmann Tru-blast sound system would be a good fit? It is just a basic sound system with whistle and bell if that's all right. Or perhaps something better which you could buy from an advertiser in CTT magazine?

Toy Trains, they are not just an adventure, they are a way of life !
Thru electric railroad you could get railsounds now I'm not sure what you would need to run it but sure they could tell you if possible. www.electricrr.com ( I think) or you could try Jeff Kane at jeff@ttender.com he may have the board
Edit: just went to electric railroad site and it states railsounds can operate alone or with any of the tmcc products so you could hook it up to work by its self
