Hello all, Does anyone know if someone makes a Standard Gauge handcar that might be for sale?? Looking for small motorized units for my standard gauge layout. No luck so far. Only found a McCoy Merry Christmas hand car, but it was a short run and hard to find and not for sale anywhere. If you might know, let me know as I would like to buy one for my train layout so my nephew can see something different for the layout. Thanks.
These turn up on eBay at times:

The McCoy's are the only ones I've ever heard of, and online auctions or train shows are about the only way to find em' these days.
Of course, you could make one of your own. G-scale figures like the ones Bachmann sells would be close enough in size. They're plastic but spraying them with a glossy finish would make them fit better with tinplate. You could also use 2 modified #45 Lionel gatemen to make something look pseudoauthentic to the tinplate era.

Trains, trains, wonderful trains. The more you get, the more you toot!
also if your just looking for something different how about the MTH remake of the No. 85 race cars that lionel did years and years ago I may be wrong but believe these were Standard gauge
Life's hard, even harder if your stupid John Wayne
