MTH 0-8-0 has sound but won't run help please

I have a MTH 0-8-0 North West Rail King locomotive.  I went to run it last night and I got lights and sound but when I went to run it just mad a scratchy chuffing sound but didn't go any where.  It has Protosound 1.0 which I checked the tender out with another locomotive and it ran flawlessly. I opened the locomotive to make sure all connections where connected and that there were no pinched wires. I am hoping that someone has had a similar experience.  I was wondering if the motor could be burned up?

Have you checked the motor itself? Need to bench test it, with the shell of the engine removed. Use D.C. power to do this, use a 9 to 12 volt D.C. source with alligator clips to attach to the motor wires, see if the motor will turn, if it does you have another problem. Radio Shack sells alligator clips with wires.

Thanks but I solved the problem.  The soldering points on the small circuit board that the Proto cable plugs into were loose.  The guy here locally fixed for next to nothing and it is running great.
