Lionel's new scale F-3's
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, August 28, 2004 10:24 PM
I recently purchased a set of Lionel's new F-3's - the detail is outstanding, as is the sound, detail and pulling power. Is anyone aware of any issues of Classic Toy Trains (or other magazines) which have reviewed these locomotives? Just out of curiosity, does anyone know what the drawbar pull of these engines are? Anyone aware of any concerns or criticisms of these new locomotives?

I have the second run of the SF F-3s and they are just great, no problems on this end with the ABA. The only problem i had has been with the extra powered b unit, i sent it back once and Lionel replaced the board. Well the same thing happened again so off it goes back to lionel.

Here is a link to the on line review

And I believe it was in the May 2003 Issue of CTT.

Hope this helps

Thanks! Good luck Davidone with the new powered B-unit - I don't have a large enough layout to test the pulling power of two of these units, but I'll bet it's simply unbelieveable with 4 can motors!! Just one of the powered units seems to have great pulling power...

I just want to put in a word for the old F3's, lest anyone infer from the title of the topic that they were not scale models--one of the few examples from Lionel.
