Hey all,
First post for me...and I am excited to have gotten our old 637 up and running for Christmas. I know it hasn't been used since 1970 and was all dirty. But with careful disassembly, cleaning and a light lube, it is now pulling 10 cars with ease and puffing smoke. I couldn't believe that even the lightbulb was working. The reversing unit drum is still a little wonky but functions OK. I need to spend a little more time cleaning those contacts. I have yet to work on the whistle so no sound for now
Anyway, glad to be back to running the trains and the kids seem to love it. I also have the Three Rivers Fast Freight set going too so twice the trains are twice the fun! They make a heck of a lot of noise.

Rut Rho momma better watch out as next thing she will know dad is making a space for a full time layout and then comes this new stuff called TMCC/Legacy where you run the trains from a controller not the transformer and you can get all these new and great sounds like voices from the engines and squealing breaks and chugging sound as the engine starts to pull out your in for a whole new world if you have been away from it since 1970 hang on as it will amaze you.

IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.
With all the improvements made due to technology you better grab something and hold on tight. I'm an HO guy myself but I have friends who run O Scale trains and they can't get enough of the new toys that have been added.

I was an HO guy also, but unearthed the old stuff and it is a lot of fun. Most of it is my dads that he acquired in the 60's and 70's. But even the new set with train sounds is cool. Things have certainly come a long way.
Thanks for the warm welcome from all!
O gauge trains are a great way to enjoy model railroading, but it is very addictive.
