Factory training?

I'm thinking about taking the Lionel and MTH factory training courses sometime in 2012.  Thoughts?  Experiences?  Helpful hints?

I know a couple techs that took the MTH training classes. I believe at that time you had to be with a train shop that has an authorized service center recognized by the manufacture that you are receiving the training from. The requirements may be different today.
