That guy named Charley. Had nice big TStorm earlier so I shut down. Ahrd rains. They call for more tomorrow. Got all flags in. Took the wheel [with blades] off of the windmill. All hanging baskets are on the ground. All drains are cleaned out to funnel water around shops and sheds. Got 3 5gal containers of gas for the generator, vehicles full and got some cash. Now wait. Saw some bad pictures coming out of FL. Later and God bless.

Hi Chief,

My brother live NE of Orlando. I talk to him around 4:00pm today, at that time, he was ok, but the storm didn’t hit him yet. It looks like he is in the middle of it now. I will try to call him later.

Good luck tomorrow.

Nail down the tomatoes, and hang on Frank. Hopefully it will have lost most of it's punch by the time it gets there.

Chief, we know that a little snow stops everything in the Carolinas. Are you saying a little rain stops everything too.[:D]

Looks to be a mess, guys. News here showed roof peeling off large new-looking commercial building. Let's hope everybody stays in one piece.

Got one more batch of corn but it is about ready to eat. Apples may be on the ground. Going to bed. We'll see tomorrow. Tomorrow [oops today], is youngest birthday. Now that was a hurricane [Alison]. Would not leave so we teased her it was just like her. Good night.

Feel for those folks in FL. We've been there. Folks really help out. Andrew hit there and we sent stuff, crews and NG down to help. Fran and Floyd hit here and the FL folks did the same for us. Hope you are OK. Just raining here now.

Chief,
Hope you made it through the storm okay! I've been through five hurricaines and wouldn't wish it on anyone. Certainly all our prayers need to be with the folks that were hard hit in Florida.

Yes Dr John, that is not good in Fl. Prayers for all of those folks. I grew up farther east and have been through a lot of those things [they seem to love NC]. Lately, they have wanted to come inland and through the middle of the state. This one turned and died.

Whenever I see these pictures on the news, be it a tornado, flood or hurricane, I know what that those folks are feeling who have lost what seems like "everthing." Of course, if they are alive to see what has happened, they haven't really lost "everything."

After a fire detroyed my business and studio, I remember being in shock... standing outside looking at the burned up shell of a building and thinking "well it's all gone... everything I've ever done, made and worked for is all completely gone." For an artist and musician, losing your work is like losing your children. That's a rough feeling that usually gets worse in the upcoming weeks.

C.S. Lewis once said "Pain is a megaphone from God." Oh, how well I know.

I'm sure if we have any fellow forum members who have directly gone through this hurricane, they may not even be reading this. They may not have time, or electricity or a place to even do so. Our prayers and best wishes should be with them. All these folks face some hard days ahead. One could even say they are being tested.

And the folks who have been spared this and are in better positions are also being tested... to see if they will lend a hand to those in need.

I speak from personal experience on all this, because I've been tested a lot lately, almost to the breaking point. Chief, glad to see it looks like you got spared this time from the full brunt of the storm.

There were some really good posting over at OGR from some people in the FL area, however Rich keeps deleting them.

I guess the damage is terrible and some people are still trying to get power back. There is one guy from the original posting that has not checked in yet, lets just hope it is only that he is still out of power and nothing worse.

I suspect that Rich deleted the first one after it served it's usefullness- he deleted it between friday and saturday, after the storm passed fla. The second thread is still up, and I hope it stays up for a few days. since both threads are off-topic(not directly related to O gauge trains) I'm sure that the second thread will dissapear too[V]
