According to the latest MTH catolog [page 6], you can access the TMCC [command control] features of Lionel products with the DCS controller.

I run TMCC locos with my DCS set-up but I had to connect the TMCC command base to the DCS TIU to send the TMCC signal to the TMCC locos. The DCS controller and TIU cannot send a TMCC signal without the TMCC command base. Once the TMCC command base is connected to the DCS TIU you then key in the TMCC loco info into the DCS controller which will allow you to send commands to the correct TMCC loco.

TMCC bases are no  longer made my Lionel, you will need to get a legacy base or find a used one, etc.

If you do get a legacy base,  you will find running TMCC is easier then ever and certain things like lashups are much easier then with DCS.

Plenty of used TMCC command bases available on eBay normally.
