Problem With O22 / 5133 Remote Switch
Posted by Texas Pete on Sunday, October 23, 2011 2:53 PM

Functions normally off the fixed voltage plug, but no lights or operation on track power with fixed plug removed.  Anybody know where to start troubleshooting?  Thank you.

Pete

Pete,

Search this forum for my post "022/711 switch operating pblms"  The post contains a complete set of instructions for rebuilding 022 switches.  I suggest you go through your 022 switches completely.

Had the same issue a while back ..... it's the flat piece that touches the pin.  Although it may appear to be touching the pin, it's probably is not making contact.  Using 2 wires with clips, connect the center rail and ground rail of the switch to your track power and squeeze the flat piece against the pin. It should light up.  I gave up on mine and use the constant voltage pin.

Problem is solved.  Once I removed the switch motor I was able to note that the contact spring from the frog rail had been bent so that it was not properly contacting the brass strip on the switch machine floor.  Straightened it out some and it's good to go.

ps - I couldn't find servoguy's excellent O22 rebuilding instructions by searching on this forum.  However, they can be found by searching "022/711 switch operating pblms" in Google!  Go figure.
