Need help - 54,55, & 56 Rolling Stock Consist W/ 2321Lackawanna?
Posted by FEClionel on Tuesday, July 20, 2004 7:08 PM
Just purchased an amazing all original ex condition 2321 Lackawanna Fm - but since I'm a young guy(24) who has never seen a set with rolling stock. I was wondering if anyone knew of the rolling stock that came in the sets in 54, 55, and 56. I know the 6417-50 was probably the caboose but have a ln 6517 from 55 + and I'm hoping that was part of one of the 55 or 56 sets. Thanks guys!

My Power Giant set is as above but has a red gondola, and Pennsy roadname caboose. I have now enjoyed it for 45 years and counting up every Christmas. I trust that you will enjoy it at least as long.
Frank Dz, if its worth doing, its worth doing to wretched excess.

Geoff,

The TM Books & Video Lionel Postwar CD indicates the 2321 Erie Lackawanna was included in the following sets:

2219W (1954) included -
2321 E-L FM (maroon roof)
6415 Sunoco tank car
6462 NYC gondola (green)
6464-50 Minneapolis & St. Louis boxcar
6456 Lehigh Valley hopper
6417 Pennsylvania caboose

2223W (1954) included –
2321 E-L FM (maroon roof)
3482 Operating Milk car with platform
3462 Operating Lumber car
6464-100 Western Pacific boxcar
6462 NYC gondola (red)
6417 Lehigh Valley caboose

2243W (1955)
2321 E-L FM (gray roof)
3662 Operating Milk car with platform
6511 Lionel Pipe car
6462 NYC gondola (red)
6464-30 Rutland boxcar
6417 Lionel Lines caboose

There is no mention of a 1956 set including the 2321. Sets in 1956 that had an FM were Set 2261W (2231 Virginian) and Set 2270W (2341 Jersey Central). Neither included a 6517 caboose.
