K-LINE prices question
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, July 11, 2004 11:20 PM
Dumb question here, guys.

I recently visited the K-Line site and found several locos
including what looks like a nice Santa Fe steamer for
$50. Is that correct? Are they K-Line Collectors Club
prices or is that everyone's price? The site was a tad
lacking on detailed information. This was the Fall
advance pages that are up there. If those prices are
correct, then it will go a long way towards bring new
members into the hobby, especially those on a tight
budget.

I saw them also, initially I jumped in to look at the B&O offerings but after recovering from STICKER SHOCK I saw the one you referenced and thought they had errors on the page. However if you look at comparable equipment by other manufacturers I guess they were in reality good prices, although a little more than I can handle currently. Wi***he stock market would get it's [censored] together our investments have really been hammered.

Doug;

So you are saying that the prices that I saw are, indeed,
accurate? If so, then I just may get one of the locos just
for "giggles". Can't beat that. I have a feeling that they
are meant to go with K-Line's lower priced selection of
rolling stock currently offerred in their catalogs. Maybe
the locos are a reissue of older tooling, but we still need
something like this for younger hobbyists and children
who want to be a part of our miniature world.

Thanks.

Check out the GP-7's, they ain't fancy but for the price Holy Cow ! [:O]
What's with the scale reefer prices? Since I got the B&O scale Mikado by K-line, just love it, I've tried to add some scale rolling stock for it. All of what I have added has been off of E-bay when I can find something reasonably priced. The new reefer prices are begining to reach the neighborhoods of the BIG NAME manufacturers.[:(]

Everybody;

I was reading about this pricing on some other train forums
and it appears that this just might be premature as this is a
sales thing and it will require that dealers purchase large
amounts of stock in order to participate. Apparently many of
these dealers will opt out and the items will be hard to come
by (if at all). Just guess we'll have to stand by and see.....
