Lionel 2046 Pricing Difference??

Hello Forum,

I know "anything goes" on ebay sometimes, but does anyone have an idea of why the pricing is so different between the items below; particularly in light of the descriptons and pictures.  I read the descriptions of both and thought maybe my untrained eye missed something.  One set even has the boxes, but is STILL priced at half the price of the other set.

You will get better answers regarding model trains on the "Model Railroader" and "Classic Toy Trains" forums.

Depending on condition and originality of parts, of the item(s) for sale, will cause prices to vary and sometimes greed!

ah yes, "rslion" the guy who photographs the stuff on the deck railing. This question has been the source of many posts on this and other forums. Granted, his 2046 was in nicer condition, and the smok ringsx photo has got to help, it still appears the final selling price was above reason. Could be that his stuff is really good and he has return bidders (has of 17,000 transactions) or maybe he's just lucky. Certainly luckier than me, I sold of a C-8 2046 last year. It was damaged in shipping (tender) so the buyer wanted a refind, ended up selling it for about $100 and settled with UPS for $50 of insurance money. In the end, i wish I had one that nice for $150. But that's the way it goes sometimes.
