Lionel Withdrawls
Posted by RR Redneck on Monday, January 3, 2011 2:53 PM

Ok, I love my country, and I am proud to be serving in the finest and strongest military force in the world.....I just wish that the army had sent me to say I dont know, Germany, or kept me stateside. Somewhere I could have room to keep my Lionels, even to so much as a limited selection of them.......I'm stuck in Italy forcing me to send my three rail treasures back to Texas for my parents to safe guard and my unvoluntary return to N scale modeling. I'll tell ya it's sad when you barely have the room for N scale! Oh well.......I still plan to procure Lionels in addition to working on my n scale layout under construction now. Just sucks that I wont be able to have them here with me.

Lionel collector, stuck in an N scaler's modelling space.

Consider your self lucky you have room for n scale when i served and was overseas I didn't have room for that my space was equal to 6' x 2' ( my bunk and my locker was built into that) under where I slept and it was only about 8" deep with steel welded dividers. So no way to make a layout at all.  And state side I basically had same room until I got married or the 2 years I was stationed in MD.

Yeah I was in the navy and aboard ship most of the time.

Life's hard, even harder if your stupid  John Wayne

Keep up the good fight no matter where you are and hold onto your dreams and desires.

Hopefully, all will be home.

I also, was in the U.S. Navy, in tight quarters, but I always had dreams of family, pets, friends and of course thoughts of Lionel trains, to keep me going.

Have a Healthy and a Happy New Year,

Ralph

Look at this as an opportunity to get out and ride some real trains....though it's no Berkshire, the Eurail will take you anywhere you want to....I loved my times in Italy and took some great trips.

It's only a few years and the Lionel will be waiting for you. This is an opportunity of a lifetime. Take advantage of it.

I second the above post. Your Lionel's, like your family will be there when you get back. Take full advantage of where you're at right now. Who knows, your time in Italy could influence the style and design of your future layout.
