I am about to design a track plan for my new layout, and I am wondering if the software programs are worth investing in? Do they work OK, or am I better off to just figure it out on my own? Is the software program from R&S (RR TRACK) worth getting? Thanks.
I purchased RR software in 2006, it took a little bit to get familiar with it, but is one of the best programs I have ever purchased. Originally I was going to design a layout for a 20 by 30 foot room. However, that ended up not happening. I ended up with a different room, 20x16. The software was absolutely fantastic. I had some really tight parameters to saatisfy, and ended up with a very accommodating layout that I am very pleased with. The software has some cad capabilities, and I even designed detail plans for a shed I built. I have helped a number of people with layout designs and it has actually been fun.
If you have intentions of a complex layout or just want to maintain a ongoing evolution I would definetly recommend it. If you like send me an email, and I will send you sample copies of some of the layouts I have done.
Enjoy! and welcome to the hobby.
Regards. (BTW, I was originally from Rockford Ill.

Thanks for your input, and your offer to send me something in e-mail. How do I e-mail you?
Actually with the new software I'm not sure, my address is dbaker48@live.com
