Williams Boston & Maine GP9
Posted by PhrozenAce on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 8:58 PM

Hello Forum,

Does anyone own the Williams B & M (black, white, and blue) GP9 with the horn only and how close is it to the Lionel Postwar 2346?  Would you also know when was the last year that Williams manufactured this engine?

Thanks,

Bernard

I still own the Lionel Boston & Maine GP9 that my dad bought for me in 1961. The number is 2359. Here are some good photos of the postwar 2359 that I found on the internet so you can see what the 2359 looks like. I believe the 2346 was a later version.

I have one and when I first saw it I had to do a double take at it. I thought it was a lionel. It runs better than my lionel and I picked it up at a show for $100.

Hello,

Thank you both for taking the time to respond.  I wasn't aware of the 2359 but do plan to pick up the Williams version.

Thanks,

Bernard

Lionel made the 2346 in 1965 & 66, the 2359 was made in 1961 & 62, according to Greenberg's pocket price guide.

If you are looking for the newer or current re-production by Williams by Bachmann try Ma & Pa Junction, as they have much better prices than the Bachmann website has.
