Atlas switches and Post war 002 Controllers
Posted by elvisp on Sunday, September 12, 2010 12:04 PM

I am trying to use post war 022 comtrollers with my Atlas switches. Is this possible. If so, how are they wired. The Atlas controllers have 3 wires  power, ground and other. The 022 has 3 wires but used track power or fixed voltage wired directly to the switch. Thanks,

The 022 switch controller is very simple.  When you want to operate an 022 switch, the controller connects one of the outside wires to the center wire.  The center wire is grounded at the switch motor.  Power to the coils that operate the switch comes either from the center rail of the track or from the constant voltage plug.

I don't know if this will operate an Atlas switch or not as I don't have a schematic for an Atlas switch.

You will probally have to remove the light bulbs in the 022 controller or the switch may not work properly. The new switches have lower wattage light bulbs(sometimes even lower voltage bulbs) in the newer switch controllers then the postwar switch controls.

In my opion it is best to use the newer Atlas controls with the newer Atlas switches, less problems!
