TRAIN COMPANIES PLEASE READ--A "Super" idea for you!
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, May 31, 2004 9:56 PM
Do you work for Lionel, K-Line, MTH, Williams, Atlas or any other company with a large budget? Are you reading posts on this board? I believe someone told me that you are indeed. If so, lets see Super Hero box cars. Batman, Superman, Spider-Man, Wonder Woman, The Flash, X-Men, The Hulk. The licensing will pay for itself. I for one would buy a case of just BATMAN cars.

Sounds like a job for K-line to me Jack. [swg] I think they already did the super villian series. [;)]

A cannon car that shoots wonder woman out of the cannon would be nice.

A superman racing an F-3 on an invisible teather would be nice too.

A batman cave with sounds and flashing lights?

Elliot, tell me more about these Super-Villain cars? You mean like the Joker, Penguin, Etc?

I know the licensing would be high on this stuff, but I think it would sell enough to warrant the cost.

No Jack, you missed my joke. I was thinking along the lines of political, not fictional. Perhaps it was a bad joke anyway, the fictional ones would be good too. Best we say no more on that other stuff.[swg]

Political toy trains?

Perhaps a John Kerry tank car, a George Bush boxcar and a Ralph Nader reefer. If you are apolitical like me, you'd buy all three and couple them together behind a docksider. Another idea would be to get a Senate collection. Since the Senate is evenly divided, half would be democrats and half republicans.

Hey, Amtrak Jack----The HO guys are way ahead of you. Somewhere in my HO morgue I have a "Shazam" boxcar with a picture of a Supermanlike hero on the sides. How about cars with something nice on them? How about a Mother's Day or Father's Day car? Or we could have a "Happy Birthday" car. How about a Girl Scout or Boy Scout car with nice slogans like "Be nice", "Do good deeds", 'Be helpful and cheerful"? We could have religious cars to commemorate a first communion, confirmation or bar mitzvah with reverent slogans? How about a Catholic, Jewish, or Protestant car with appropriate scriptural quotations? Instead of alcohol and tobacco cars they could have "Don't Smoke" and "Don't Drink" and "Don't Do Drugs". Another great idea would be a "Get Well Soon" car for ill modellers. Our trains could be real rays of sunshine if we wanted. But it will never happen because we will only buy cynical stuff, and we consider nice and religious things to be corny. The ACLU and the other atheists might decry the religious cars, but since they are purchased by individuals for their personal use they probably couldn't stop us. Odd-d

like the JW Gacy Tank Car or Martha Stewart Bullion Car or the
Richard Reed shoe car or Zacarias Moussaoii 911 boxcar
Rae Carruth football car, Susan Smith floating car
Heidi Fleiss holecar (has opening you can stick things into)
Michael Jackson kidcar (has few holes too.)

Like that you mean

One could say the same thing about a lot of show or franchises. I would love to see "Star Trek" boxcars. But then again it seems they would be a little off for train cars.

Alan,

Great ideas!

Here's several:

Extreme makeover boxcar with picture of the gal before surgery on one side and after on the other.

Survivor boxcar: each time the train goes around the loop the group inside the boxcar tosses a loser out.

A special litigation UP passenger car. With MTH and Lionel figures inside with their attorneys sueing each other as a UP official collects logo fees.

How about a Pope Car. A flat car with a special raised area for His Holiness to ride in.

Why wait to BUY them, why not MAKE YOUR OWN from low end or junker cars?
Probability is they will not be made, but if you realy want one ......do it yourself.

Oh, I know Paul. But you know, sometimes it's just nice to see something you want made for you. The feeling is kind of like hearing a song you like on the radio even though you own the CD. It's like an admission that others share in your interests enough to manufacture it. Besides, I get very tired of making everything. I made four WIGGLES cars for my four year old in the manner in which you suggest. For those of you who do not know who the Wiggles are, count your blessings, move on and don't ask.[:D]

Amtrack Jack, are Wiggelies related to those discusting "Teletubies"? Lets not go there!!!! I realy liked 3rail guy's idea for a Superman racing an F3 on an invisible teather!!! THAT WOULD BE COOL!! Might try that one my self. As a 59 year old single guy, I still have plastic Disney figures etc all over the house for visiting kids (and myself).

I'll take the Ted Kennedy car. It will feature a clear plastic tank like the AEC cars, filled with Chivas Regal...with a '66 Oldsmobile floating in it!
