TMCC Switch Control/SC-1
Posted by Algonquin on Tuesday, January 16, 2001 2:40 PM
My layout currently has a TMCC Command Base installed so I can run trains in command mode. My switches are all conventionally wired to a main control panel with a separate power supply for the switches.

Currently, I have to go back to the control panel to throw a switch. Does anyone know if the TMCC SW-1 controller can be hooked up in parallel with the existing switch controllers such that the switches could be operated either at my control panel or through a CAB-1. I still enjoy operating my layout conventionally and would like to retain panel control of the switches as well.

I believe you can wire them in parallel, I read that on another board where someone did that. I have TMCC but I have been waiting for the SC2 to come out, so I have not purchased any yet. According to the Lionel web site, they will not be out until April :(

Thanks Howard,

I was hoping I would be able to figure some way to do it. It sound like I will be able to. I heard the SC-2 was an upgrade of the SC-1. I am not sure what was upgraded, but I will start looking for reviews sometime this Summer. When you get yours in let us know how they perform.

The SC-2 has a higher current carrying capacity.

The SC-1 can be used in parallel with switch controllers.  You may get some erratic operation with 1121C and 1122C controllers, but if you disable the lamp inside the controller, that would take care of that.

I use the SC-2 and the manual switch controllers in parallel and they work perfect.  Thumbs Up
