Sunday Night - Running Trains in the Attic
Posted by cheapclassics on Monday, April 19, 2004 12:38 PM
While train activity for most of us dies down in the summer, for me, it is just starting to heat up, so to speak. Indiana winters and unheated attics are not conducive to train-running, but Sunday night was perfect. Sometimes it is nice to watch the train circle the layout and switch a car every now and then. There are some enhancements I want to make, eventually, but for now the layout is just fine for running. Despite all the debates, isn't this what the hobby is all about?

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

I know what you mean, Mike. It was nice and cool in the basement - while it was 88 degrees upstairs - the a/c doesn't work anyway. I was busying 'tieing' track together with yarn - in anticipation of sliding my 'grass' sheets I picked up at Hobby Lobby (roughly 4 x 8 ft each by LifeLike) under the track. Then ballasting it. These are my summer projects.

I too, spend a great deal of time with my trains in the summer. I for one hate the heat and enjoy retreating to my nice cool basement. Since I don't have school, there's much more time in the summer for my trains. Also in the summer, my family does a lot of travelling and so I'm picking up lots of trains on our trips.
