Lionel 264E red comet - prewar color?
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, April 15, 2004 4:36 PM
I've tried asking everywhere without luck and came across this forum today. Seems like a great place to tap on some experience/wisdom:

I have an lionel prewar 264e, commodore v., red comet, stripped and ready for paint. I am having a problem determining the correct paint color (it needs to match the tender and pullman cars). While I can find vendors who carry paints that refer to lionel model numbers, I can't find one who can make a reccomendation for this engine. Unless I can find a lead for the right paint, I'll have to resort to paint chips.....and my eyes aren't that good....

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

This is a good place to buy paint from. The colors are a really good match.

Thanks for the link. I checked it out and do not see the color for the 264E Red Comet. Maybe because it is just a standard prewar red for Lionel? I emailed the site. Hopefully they can direct me.

Thanks again.
