Trackside sounds
Posted by KeithL on Sunday, April 4, 2004 2:55 PM
Does anybody have any experience with the digital sound modules from George Solovay (Innovative Train Technology) for trackside sounds (barnyard animals, track crew, etc.)? I sampled some of these sounds at his Web site, www.ittsound.com, and they "sound" as if they would be fun additions to a layout. Before I invest, I'd like to know how they've worked out for those who have installed them.

Keith, this is a complete aside, but following the suggestions of Brienel, I've been successfully using an old answering machine and some kids toys to simulate some lineside sounds. It's amazing what the electronics in my 21 mo. old's toys can do.

I have some old QSI Soundblox, which sound similar to the product that you are talking about, and they worked great. Just set them near where you want the sound to come from. The crickets were great, especilaly when it was quiet.
