Gargraves New Sectional Track
Posted by SPFan on Saturday, March 20, 2004 5:54 PM
Just back from a pleasant visit to Gardiner The Train Doctor, home of Gargraves track. The family that runs business and all of the employees I have met are died in the wool toy train nuts. I noticed hanging on the wall some curved sections made with real wood ties. When I inquired about it they said they have been producing it for about six weeks. It looks like they have taken their bendable track and formed it in a jig. The section is held in place with a pair of metal bands tightly fit in slots milled into the underside of the ties. Ballasting should cover up these bands.
When I get the layout built I'll probably just use the bendable stuff all around but for temporary holiday layouts this looks like the way to go.

Hey Pete thanks for the info on this new Gargraves. I have used the
flex on my layout except in a few places. Did they say when this
track would be available?
Thanks

I am not sure when the dealers will have it but I am pretty sure you can order it direct right now. They plan it make it in the same radii as their plastic tied track. While they discount "seconds" at their store, they sell the unblemished track at list price so not to undercut their dealers. Your best bet is to order it through your local dealer.
