Elliot,

I too have a special affection for the 261. I rode behind it when it came to Steamtown for the grand opening in '95 (I believe was the year), and then chased it on the rest of its excursions. I have some shots of it on the Nicholson Viaduct.

That is one big, beautiful engine. I'll never forget waiting for it as it climbed the grade out of Scranton. Long before you could see it, you could hear it and feel the ground shake from the effort of those huge drivers pounding the rails.

Hey guys,

I'm new here, checking out the place. I had cut back my posts at OGR long before the new fee [:(] mostly because of all the bickering. Thought this place might be a nice change and then got worried after reading the first few posts on this thread. But happily I saw the thread take a quick change and this place seems real nice - from what I can see. Hopefully we can have some good train talks, and with more latitude and less control from a few like at OGR. Glad to be here, and hope the vets don't mind yet another refugee. [:I][8)][:)]

Hi Chris. Good to see another subway fan. This seems like a nice forum. I've also cut back on my OGR activity. I hope we can continue our Subway conversations here and on http://modeltrainjournal.com/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=2.

A special welcome to "The Underground Boys" NYSubway18, and Strap Hanger.[#welcome] I left you a "present" over on your topic. Actually its slightly "past", but I think you'll like it just the same.[;)]

Will, that's a cool story! Here's something interesting that I didn't mention earlier. I'll be riding July 2nd, but July 3rd, 261 will be double heading with CP's "Empress". THAT"S THE DAY TO CHASE!!! Beside, the tickets for that trip went fast.

I'm not sure where you live, but 261 will be making a pretty good tour of 4 midwestern states this summer. Click on this topic for the schedule, and a link to 261's website.
