details I wish somebody made
Posted by overall on Wednesday, February 11, 2004 8:39 PM
There are all kinds of things that would make our O scale structures look more realistic if somebody made them;

Those LP gas tanks that provide gas to rural homes.

Window air conditioning units

Basketball goals

Swing sets

Tricycles

Lawn mowers, both walk behind and riding

Electrical and gas meters

Small sheds or outbuildings

TV antennas

Garbage dumpsters

Step Ladders

Lawn chairs including chase lounges

Above ground swimming pools

Garden hoses

Iron flower pot tree

I could go on and on. Everyday stuff scattered around makes the scene more life like. How about it manufacturers, could we see some things like this come to market?

Thanks

George

That's a nice list, and some of those things would be easy for anyone to make.

The dumpster for instance, simply a block of wood cut the right size and shape, would give you a very good starting point, and add details like wheels (maybe some beads), a lid, some of those loops that the truck uses to pick them up, etc....

A garden hose, a piece of that wire Lionel uses for everything, no need to even paint it!!!

Step ladder, made from strip wood. TV antenna, solder brass wire.

I could go on all day, but you have an imagination, YOU CAME UP WITH THE LIST!!!

The trick is to harness that imagination, and see things in the shapes of other things. Take a trip to your local craft store, and things will jump out at you. That's the beauty of this hobby, you get to be creative!!!! [8D]

Artistta makes a push-mower and figure. I've seen a swimming pool somewhere, and a company called 'Finishing Touches' makes a small lounge chair.

You could attempt to make the outbuildings yourself.
