Bascule Frame Reair or replacement
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, January 29, 2004 11:21 AM
The old Lionel Bascule bridges had frames made from Bakelite which is an extremely brittle material. Needless to say over time many of these frame cracked. I have a Bascule bridge with a cracked frame and need suggestions on repacing and/or restoring it. Would appreciate any suggestions?

The only idea I can suggest is to look in the ads in Classic Toy Trains magazine for Lionel parts dealers. There are quite a few. Two of them are here in Cleveland, ohio. We have Warren's Model Trains, and we have Olsens Toy Train parts at 216.226.0444. CTT has Those plus Stan Orr Train Parts and East Coast train parts. If anyone has new old stock or repro replacements of the base it would be one of them. If you are a member of TCA, then you probably could find a replacement at the twice annual meet in York, PA.
