hi everyone! my name is ferronut, i am new to the forum, but old in the Ogauge hobby,i enjoy every aspect of the hobby,also ctt mag suscriber from years back! i started in this fine hobby since i was about 8 years old! and unlike the other histories ;where fast cars and women took over not my case i kept at the hobby,i tell you it keep me from trouble despite that i grow up in one of the chicagos poorest neigborhoods,now thanks to the hobby it enhanced my electrical skills,mechanical,and carpentry skills but my favorite part of the hobby its perform maintenance diagnosis and repair my O gauge equipment! it figures! i am a professiona mechanic! SANTA FE RULES,SAME GOES FOR BURLIGNTON NORTHERN!![:D] (ps) does anyone what FERRONUT stands for?

HOWDY and welcome. Haven't a clue what Ferronut stands for... but I know if you take the last 3 letters there and put them behind the word "train" you will have described many of us here.
So, curious how you feel about BNSF? When I saw the latest issue of the K-Line ATSF Alco FA - and they look better than ever - I really wish K-Line would just once issue the warbonnet scheme with the letters BNSF on the side. I've seen photos of the real thing like that... it'd be nice to have an engine with that classic paint scheme, and yet with a little contemporary touch. You ever see the magazine "The Railroad Press"? They recently did a story and photo section on the BN. Photos in that magazine are nice enough to frame! I'm a fan of the northeast US lines, but when I see those F units in that green and white with the orange "tiger stripes" on the nose... sharp!!
Guess I'm a sucker for a good looking train regardless of the road.

Welcome to the forum, ferronut! I belive "ferro" is latin for rails or railway. So a ferronut would be someone that's nuts about trains, like most of us one here. I too, have kept my hobby and not let other things take over (I'm 17 now). Post away and have fun!

Actually, "ferrum" means "iron". Most languages tend to call a railroad an "iron road" (Italian and Portuguese "ferrovia") or "iron lane" (Spanish "ferrocarril"), or something like that. See http://www.informationheadquarters.com/List_of_phobias/Railroad.shtml for a longer list.

thank you guys for your input! yes indeed those alcos by mdk are sharp!,also like E units they are super elegant! well E7s/E8s,and BNSF its my favorite,and l live real closed to corwinth,clyde pk diesel facility /classification yards so i paid them a visit to check out equipment! everynow and then,and as for timplater keep it up!,FERRONUT its a derivate from FERROVIALS!..BNSF RULES!
