BOUGHT A 2026 RECENTLY IN ROUGH SHAPE ,BUT RUNS. VERY BAD PAINT JOB ON WHEELS & RODS ,ANY IDEAS ON HOW TO REMOVE PAINT WITHOUT DAMAGE ! ANY OTHER HINTS WOULD BE HELPFUL. THANKS!

Congratulations, they are a neat looking engine when cleaned and running the rails. As to paint removal, if you look in the list at the top of the topics, they have a information section. Do a search and you will get several different methods. I have heard of soaking in "Simple Green" for a few days, using some non-caustic paint thinners, and a few other ideas. For the shell, I would boil some water, drop some laundry soap in and then put the shell in. For the rods, etc, I would try some WD-40 and a scotchbrite pad. Needs a bit of elbow greese, but will clean moderately dirty/mild rust fairly well. Good luck, dennis

The 2026 can have either a whistling tender or a non whistling tender according to the Greenberg price guide.

Far as exterior parts, like side rods, stuff for a 224 steam loco should work. The electrical pickups for the 2026 for the  center rail are 027 style, 244 is O gauge center pickups.

Speaking of 224's I just bought a Williams S-2 steam tender for one of my 224's as I was missing the tender, paid $50.00 for the S-2 tender brand new and never out of the box before yesterday.
