I have a 314AW American Flyer Engine in its original box- smoke and whistle train (the box has a date of 1950 printed on it), it has cars 625(silver) , 630 , 632 both the cars and the train are like brand new condition,(the cars were wrapped in the kraft paper , and the engine is in a corrogated type box) included are a #2 transformer and the whistle controller and some tracks. I believe that is/was used a couple of times and put up , as far as I can tell there are no paint chips and the cars look like they were made yesterday - and I also have a bill for when it was serviced in 1975. according to the bill - the cord for the transformer was replaced and the engine serviced.....it has very little use -my kid received it as payment for cleaning out a storage shed..... is this train a fairly rare train? Did they make a whole lot of them? Thanks for any response.....
(p.s is it alright to ask a value on it....?)
According to the Greenberg 2007 price guide the good/excellect prices are, 314AW $95-355; 625 $8-31; 630 $5-17;632 $4-18. You don't see them real often, but not super rare. Desireable? yes. I am looking for one myself. Can you post some pictures?
